Well overdue a update on this

I've been fairly busy generally tidying the engine bay. Last month is sent my charger away for a pulley change and a check over to Jon speed racing. While it was away I painted the cam covers and inlet and made use of my home made shot blaster and cabinet.

I received the charger back last week with its new pulley. Very happy with it,

C1BC66EB-8FF3-4F52-9C6E-4D380B13F461-104

Fitted it to the car and dropped 8mm off the belt route.

745BB197-5E7A-4308-A3A3-517BDAEF6A94-116

After helping chipstick with his many axles I was forced into buying some bucket seats from him, a little faded but other wise mint.

C66E86E7-230F-4BD5-BAF7-23EE7CDDC480-162

I managed to pick up another front valance after a late night prowl on the bay.

I believe so I am told its a genuine ecosse valance. Will replace my cracked and broken one.

AFC6B98C-5C21-4FA1-8581-A95E323EE158-116

I'm now waiting on my fancy dial gauge to arrive to dial in the cams and then hopefully sandy can work his magic on it. :D

Have I missed something... How/why is the caliper mounted so far around the disc?

Are the brakes any good? Running sumitomos on mine which I believe are similar perhaps slightly smaller, I've not road tested them yet!!

Looking great btw!!

Yeah brakes are brilliant for what they cost etc, they are mounted that far round the wheel due to the mountings on the caliper and hub pictures speak a thousand words,

This is during my mock up

1FD754D4-264E-469B-B5B6-D7C2234093CB-363

As you can see I had to mill the back of the caliper a fair amount

probably want to keep an eye on those after a few miles, might have been better to radius those edges....

ive been chasing a lack of boost for awhile now so i decided to make a dump valve tester, the idea was to connect it to the compressor. anyway i came up with this.

connected the dump valves to the end and connected to the compressor to blew about 10psi threw it, to find.....

both were the same so buggered! big relief after all this head scratching.

Well my mot is due next week so I started to do some per mot checks, I found my ball joints were shagged so ordered up a pair of new firstline wishbones, I fitted firstline wishbones at the beginning of the build and having lasted 3 years I decided to use them again.

Also I had a inner cv boot gone on the drivers side so replaced that but after a look on the outer cv boot on the same shaft I saw it was also due to fail so replaced that one too.

F5F948E3-FB96-46F2-9130-733609087282-131

I know there has always been speculation about quality of wishbone bushes on non genuine arms so I thoughts I'd compare new with old

60F9D6AF-049D-4AA7-AAD7-7A98EA021658-131

No wear and considering these are the cheapest 309 wishbones.

Also I made up a cork gasket for the charger to stop it leaking from underneath seems to have worked.

Getting more boost now, mot is Tuesday and then to book in with sandy.

Well its been along time since ive updated this, done afew things to the car since. Car has been going well with no running issues to report.

Car was booked in with sandy for mapping, I arrived at srd ltd for the session early morning, and sandy got cracking straight away

6AA240C4-46C7-43C8-B3FD-C7A837A72C34-169

After a very long day i came away with good results, despite the omex and laptop issues through out the day.

What a amazing guy he is, filled me with confidence as i could see he knew his stuff. Totally transformed the feel of the engine, gave excellent advice.

Heres a quick video of a pull.

th_8E942624-C3C8-405C-B3EC-6FC0B46CC141-

Ive also gone up to 3 dump valve as i was having issues with 2 and it not releasing all the air.

F735EBEF-8B6F-451A-87CF-2F896F37E3B1-380

Car made it to pugfest, its first long trip since the supercharger, also glad i swapped to a 1.9 box as i didn't have to resort to my ear defenders on the trip to pugfest.

Only did 1 run was being a bit gingerly with it as knowing my luck id do something to it! with also being a long trip home.

41D9CDC1-8F10-4BAE-8F6C-2BB0467513A7-380

big thanks to mikey for this picture.

I also have fitted a set of brembo max discs to the front, also replaced the n/s hub flange was warped.

6F200C87-9B02-4703-8722-4A0FCFB308DA-380

I recently picked up a omp cage from a local member, Got fitting it, decided to change a few things on it

null_zpsfdbce607.jpg

Still in the process of finishing it all, i will be keeping the carpets and head liner as its my daily drive. I plan to have a new carpet and underlay fitted after to tidy things up.

All for now :)
