  1. Hi, I am hoping someone may be able to help me out here? I'm having an issue with my drivers door not locking. The vehicle is a 205 STDT. The car battery is not fitted currently as the vehicle is still being reassembled after being painted. The drivers door, opens and closes from outside and inside without issue. The problem is when I try to lock it with the key or tey to depress the manual lock tab to lock it , it move fractionally and then wont go any further. I have had the door panel off for inspection to check that all rods and plastic connectors are indeed connected - as far as I can tell, they are. I have removed the barrel from the door, tested it with the key and it rotates smoothly with no hesitation. The pasenger side door operates as it should , opening and closing, locking and unlocking without issue using key and the manual depress and lift tab. Surely even without the battery connected, in the absence of any power, the manual act of trying to depress the lock should still work? Similarly, I would assume that even with the battery removed the lock should still be able to be operated by the key? Otherwise what would happen when you have a flat battery? I suspect that the door lock actuator may be goosed but dont even know how to get a good visual of that inside the door cavity. Does anyone have a photo of the actuator by any chance? Or, if this is an issue you have encountered before and feel you can shed some light on the issue, please dont hesitate to drop me a line on this thread. I've seen a few threads that talk of sticking mechanisms but not this issue of being unable to lock manually. So, if it is indeed the door lock actuator, where can I buy a replacement and are they all generic across the 205 range of that 1994 era? I have stumbled upon a webpage that may have them. However, I am not at all sure if it is the right component for my car, as I cant actually see the one currently fitted to my car. OEM Part No - 6615.02 https://www.franzose.de/en/Peugeot/205/electrical-component-parts/ANR75366/ Many thanks in advance Adam

    205 STDT Fuel Gauge flicker

Hi all , I'm new to the site so please forgive any breach in etiquette! I am a new owner of a 205 STDT 1.8 XUD7T. I am having trouble with the Fuel Gauge and the Rev Gauge . The fuel gauge flickers wildly from full to half to empty quite randomly and sometimes seemingly is affected by acceleration. I removed the fuel sender to check the plug and wires and all seemed good. I did find the sender covered in a very sticky greasy residue , most of which I managed to clean off and I could hear the float moving freely inside. When I bought the car , the chap suggested that it was likely the “voltage stabiliser” on the clocks that may need to be replaced. I am not familiar with this , where to find it and where to source a new one (the right one). the Rev Gauge does not work at all and as yet I have not had the opportunity to delve into that quite yet. I did also have an issue with the blower fan not working at all but with a bit of a clean up of the resistor it came back to life. apart from that she is in fairly good condition . any advice on the fuel gauge and Rev counter would be very much appreciated . Thanks in advance Adam
  3. As above really guys, when the STDT last fired (a while ago and it's still a work in progress) it fired straight away but we noticed fuel leaking from around the injector area - first port of call is replacing the leak off pipe but I can't get the existing pipe off. Any advice on removing it as presumably I need to keep those pieces as templates to cut new leak off pipe and replace what I've removed? FYI not a mechanic, total beginner, fine with services, trim and all that, just not so much wiring and powertrain related (learning as I go)
  4. As titled, I'm looking to get the engine and box out of the car as it needs some welding doing in the bay, plus the wiring is all old and broken so it's going to be easier to assess things with the box and engine out of the way. Only thing is this would be my first engine removal, so I'm just wondering if people have any experience in this and can advise the best way to do it? Also the engines done like 183K, I was thinking whilst the engine's out it's worth sending the turbo off for maintenance? As there's zero history with the car.

    Peugeot 205 Stdt Talk

Hey there guys, Since selling my GTi and buying an STDT I've become fascinated by this particular model, I'm aware that production was only for 8-9 months in 1993/1994 wasn't it? Now, I've got a L-Reg example which I thought was the only registration mark they were on but I've seen this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_jS4ucxRYk Looking at DVLA vehicle check, this bad boy isn't for this world anymore but my question is, has anyone else got an M-reg STDT? Also, are there any other colours aside Green, Grey and Gold?

    Alternator Help.

Hey there guys, I think my alternator maybe shot in my STDT. It's been fine except one morning where it took maybe a second longer to fire up than usual, thinking nothing of it I drove back to my house from where I was and slightly later that day went to start the car and there was just a clicking and nothing, the ignition startup lights were lit however,. I took the battery out and charged it and sure enough when I put it back in some hours later it fired up first time, I'm not 100% sure what alternator to buy though, will a 1.8D XU7 alternator be enough for the XU7T engine? Is it worth buying the part to get fitted or just get a garage to supply and fit? If supplying it myself is cheaper/faster will this be good enough? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300566668733?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Best wishes
  7. Hello there guys. I've just bought a 205 STDT and drove it pretty much 130 miles back to where I live without any hint of problems with the car. However, today I drove the car fine until I filled the tank and drove a little bit to visit a relative for around an hour, when starting and driving the car again I got down the road and the power started to go until it had hardly anything left, I pulled over and switched the engine off and had a look in the engine bay - nothing seemed obvious to me. I then decided to resume my journey and although I didn't lose full power it started to get a little random with the speed, almost really laggy, juddery and lazy..... Can anyone advise what's going on? Is the turbo screwed?
