Speedline Or Fondmetal 4000 Refurb Colours?

Recommended Posts

b14jay

Hi all, recently purchased a 205 gti 1.9 (mi16 engined) and was considering refurbing the wheels either white or grey/anthracite with a red lip maybe.

Has any one got any pictures of such wheels or even a picture of fondmetal 4000 deep dish alloys as i got a set of these with the car aswell?

Ps might be selling the fondmetals shortly if anyones interested?

Thanks

Do those Fondmetal wheels go for decent money then? I have 2 of them at home but don't think I'll ever use them.

Not really got a clue, mine have 4 matching good tyres on and in decent nick. Think there pretty rare though from what ive read up on.

Not sure what 2 would be worth but might be gd as a spare for people with 4?

Yeah that's why I've kept them, they're good looking wheels and if the odd one or two popped up for sale I would have snapped them up. Shame they won't fit the 205 really.

They look nice, the stickers add a good effect! Had some white ones with my old 205 but were never in good condition so that put me off a bit but that may have changed my mind

cameron

Do they not fit the 205 then? Thought they would?

And yeah probs be hard but id hold onto them to make a complete set as not much point in selling them as two really.

Well they would but they would rub like a beeatch! I think they're 15 x 7 or something ridiculous like that.

i have some pics of mine Powder coated in WHITE

sort of thinking about putting a colour on the lip, what do you think??

165/50 15 says the picture.

Did you weigh the tyres without alloys? Would be interesting, if the 165er tyre is lighter than a 195er. Maybe this will complement the C5 lightweight wheels.

thanks mate, i am really pleased with them! :)

as gentrix said 165 / 60 / 15's bridgestone's

however i found these Looked great ( even better now i have Gaz coilovers )

BUT

the handling was poor due to Lack of sidewall movement And it constantly wheelspun!

And in the wet it was Scary!

I am in the process of putting 195 / 60 / 15's to see how it handles then ill decide!!!!

thanks

195/50's will be fine, 60's will look odd IMO!

They're pug fitment, well, old 4stud Porsche/Audi technically. 4x108, ET11 15x17, and are bloody light!

The ones I have aren't! They're definitely a fair bit wider than 205 wheels.

These look great, the only wheel I've seen on a 205 other than the standard Speedlines that look right in my view!

Fondmetal 4000's can't take 307/ 180 / GTI6 283mm brakes IIRC

aren't his brakes standard calipers with spacers and larger discs though?

http://www.205gtidrivers.com/articles/b-autofivebigdisc.html

1.9 calipers are a lot smaller than 307 ones.

but thinking of it, he may have upgraded them since that article :).
