Omex Clubman Rev Limiter On A 205gti 1.6 Help Please

Recommended Posts

Guest Squibby

I want to fit an Omex Clubman Rev Limiter onto my 1.6 GTI hillclimb car.

Do I need a single or two-coil type, and to which of the 4 wires going to the coil do I attach the two wires from the unit ?? It is not as easy as the ' classic ' type of coil which just had + on one side and - on the other !

Thanks.

You want single coil type and....

I think you should have 3 wires coming from the Omex...

blue to connect to -ve on coil

red to connect to +ve on coil

black to earth

enjoy!

Thanks Matt. However, the problem is that my car has the dumpy little coil mounted on the top of the inlet manifold, with a multipin plug which has 4 wires leading into it. It is not like the earlier, tube-shaped coils with just a + and a - on them.

Hence I do not know which two of the 4 wires the red and blue leads from the Omex have to be connected to !! Any ideas ???

4 wires;

112 = tacho

2A = + from fusebox (also connected to a normally missing Suppressor)

112A = To Ignition Amp

2B = To ignition amp

Can't remember which is Negative sorry!

The coil should have a positive sign on the body where the plug fits into it.

Not sure of the wire numbers, but I've got the blue negative from the limiter to the grey wire and the red positive to the second red wire from the right as you look at the coil, earth wire is to the strut top bolts. Works fine set up like this.

The pins are duplicated on the smaller coil, its still just a + and a - but they are arranged ++-- just look for the + on the coil as Graham says.
