Tell me about it, not looking likely that I'll get the car sorted this weekend. Have fun!

not far off, V10 :D;)

What he said :(

It's also having a supercharger if the gearbox will stand it.

Unfortunately, despite being the fastest 2wd by a long shot there, we got two punctures, both on the rear axle, that left us stranded at the far side of the course :(

By the time we'd been back to service and rolled two wheels and a jack through the woods for 4 miles, we couldn't complete enough runs to finish the event. Bah.

The car had been spinning the wheels on the rims somewhat early on in the day, which probably helped towards them getting thrown off the rim by the rocks.

We do have some 16x8J steelies in the making to fit over the winter though, which will let us step up to more aggressive tyres with 8 ply Kevlar sidewalls instead of the 3 ply nylons we are currently having to run, should sort that out.

Had the engine out of the one above and down to the dyno to dial all th variable cam timing in over christmas (being infinately variable, there's a lot of mapping to do!), but with them swung right over, and with the new exhausts and bits and pieces, she cleared 600bhp on the dyno... :P

Now heres a quick tip - you'll go much faster if you keep all 4 wheels on the ground!

Had to run some dodgy fuel off the other night (borrowed a can of fuel, god knows how long it'd been stood but it made her misfire like a bitch) bit of video from the phone:

3 weekends to get it back together and it currently looks like this:

13-02-10_1941.jpg

Hmm, tiny little bit of work left then?

Sounds like our competition has stepped it up this year - there's a two new 2wd buggies arriving, both built with about 10 times our budget, so we'll be doing well if we win any!

One's a spaceframe with a fibreglass shell over it to look like a car, similar to the construction of the 4wd cars, but with a civic type-r engine, sequential gearbox, bypass shocks all around, limited slip diff, and long travel double wishbones, all brand new parts - not scrapyard monkies like us - similar power and weight to us, but should have lots more traction and grip, and should be much more aerodynamical, so faster on the high speed tracks.

The other is a little single-seater buggy, clothed in carbon fibre, with a turbocharged hyabusa engine in the back, sequential box with the quaiffe back end and diff, should be a good 150 kilos lighter than us and that too is on long arm double wishbones, bypass shocks, and should be 40-50bhp up on us.

Bugger!

Atleast you've got more of a car than the ones im on currently!

We've got a complete car but no engine, were testing on the 26th and powertec dont reckon the engine will be ready till the 25th!

You need to beg steal or borrow a camera that takes pictures rather than blurry colour.

I've been measuring up and I reckon a nice Rotrex supercharger will fit where the airbox is...

I've got a decent camera Ed, but these were taken with my phone, and that's s*it

I know the feeling with the engine though, the V10 is still at the dyno, looks like it's going to be there another week!

Well, we did have some even sillier spec cams made up halfway through when we saw the torque graph, it could lose a little midrange without any trouble :)

Finished bits and pieces off today, just waiting for the paint to dry on the wider wheels!

Gave it some testing on the old ones though:

If I ever get a shed big enough, I'm going to do that.

That must feel a bit like being punched driving that?

Oh, it shifts well enough.

Get some lovely bruises after a race though, it's not a kind sport on the joints!

We're building a new one in 2 years, so you can buy this one
