Motronic Double Relay Wiring Diagram

Recommended Posts

PhilCTI

My Motronic MP3.1 double relay has failed, looking to replace with two separate relays to keep it on the road until I can source the right replacement.

I've got a picture of the wiring pic from the top of the relay

PICT0549a.jpg

It's not very clear to understand exactly how it works,

There are 10 cables connected to the following pins;

Pin 1 - large yellow cable

Pin 3 - Small brown cable

Pin 4 - Large yellow cable

Pin 5 - Large yellow cable

Pin 7 - Small green cable

Pin 9 - Small green cable

Pin 10 - Small brown cable

Pin 11 - Large yellow cable

Pin 14 - Small green cable

Pin 15 - Large yellow cable

If someone either has an actual wiring diagram or can point me in the right direction of how this can be split to two relays to keep me going it would be a great help,

thanks,

Phil

Did your loom come from a ZX?

mine did and I made this page with the help of my brother. http://www.emyrderfel.co.uk/loom.html

the relay I just sourced from a Local Pug/citroen specialist, just an off the shelf Injection system relay

Thanks Welshpug,

yes it came from a zx,

I need both the relay and the plug which had 3 broken connectors,

From the diagram on the relay I was trying to work out how it works,

with the ignition on I have 12 volts on wires 11 & 15 as I expected.

I thought from the diagram that maybe wires 7 & 14, and then 3 & 10 would energise the relays switching the larger current cables so 15 would feed 4 & 5, and 11 would feed 1 & 9.

when I have the ignition on and when cranking I thought I would get 12 Volts across 7 & 14 and 3 & 10 but I'm not,

Phil

Phil, the wiring diagram for the ZX MP3.1 is here & I'm taking my pdf of the 405 manual into work tonight so I'll have the wiring diagram for that tomorrow whioch might help if you do decide to swap to two relays instead of the one as the 405 with MP3.1 has two relays.

I'm sure I have the ZX manual on pdf somewhere so if I find it I'll extract the page for a better quality image than the one I@ve linked to.

Graham.
