Hello guys,

Does anyone know if the rev counter ecu output(pin43),on the early xm need modding to drive the 205 clocks?

Have not been looking forward to sorting the wiring! :)

Thanks

I take it the xm engine is the xu10cjte, in which case you need to modify the tacho regardless of the ecu, you can't just plug it in, there is a small circuit you need to make from the coil pack to the tacho which is well documented on this forum. Though be careful as there are a number of circuits shown on here and not all of them work, in fact I broke one tacho by following a circuit on here, so dont just blindly connect it up and start your engine up!

Or PM Spiky for an adapter so you dont have to take your dash apart, unless you want to make it yourself :)

Oops,that could have been nasty!!

I'm not doing the conversion from scratch, just tidying up someone elses mess.(By an alledged 205 specialist!)

The rev counter was previously driven by one of the said adaptor circuits.(Two wires from the switched circuits of the coil pack)

Having found the tacho output from the ECU,didnt think this was necessary.

Guess i'll put the little box back on then!!!

Ta guys

I think its me Spiky's writing about, ive greatfully recived it, Cheers. A very tidy looking bit of kit.

Im just searching now if i connect 4 wires or 2 from the converter. Im sure its 2 between the ingition module and coil- pin 1 and pin6. On the 2.0 8v's.

Spiky if you read this, how many of the 4 wires have diodes? please.

Im confusing myself here, but i miss my rev counter.

yep, goes on the two signal wires from the amp to the coil, one to earth and the other to the tacho  I cable tied mine up next to the amp as it all sits in a 35mm film canister.
