Recommended Posts

In my 205 xs the clocks all work , alll light up, rev counter etc all works for the mileage never moves, its been like this for 8 months now since we brought the car , any ideas what could be up with it, is there any wires i should be checking or will it just need a new set of clock to go in ?

The mileage counter on the speedo clocks of a GTI is mechanical counter and is moved by the speedo cable.

You could always put in just the speedo head. See picture

(probably not the best example to show :P Item not in use :D

You would have to partialy disect the clocks and remove the needle to remove it,

So if your'e feeling lazy, you could just try a different set of clocks :D

erm you cant really try to find one with nearish the same mileage, unless you want to sit there all day with a drill!

Check the speedo cable - it is probably not properly in at one end.
