205 16v Knocksensor Problems

Recommended Posts

pugi205

Hi,

Car is 205 GTI 1.9 XU9JA/Z DKZ. Engine is changed to XU9J4 DFW (cat mi16 engine).

Im using GTI:s own wiring harness but the ecu itself is Mi16. Bosch motronic M1.3, box number:

0 261 200 161

I have added to original wiring harness the idle speed sensor + knocksensor wires.

Now - when the car is started -> i see K-lamp. And error codes can be read from diagnostic port:

43, 44 and 54. Car runs quite good but the K-lamp is still on and car is not performing as it should be.

Any ideas??

43 and 44 is definitely the knock sensor. 54 is the ECU. I'd suggest you haven't wired up the knock sensor correctly. It definitely won't go until you sort it out, as it goes into fault mode, retarding the timing. I posted the XU9J4Z wiring diagram on page 2 of this thread:

Get your multimeter out and start searching!

Pins 11 & 30 from Mi16 ECU box are connected to KnockSensor - still i get the fault codes.

How this should be configured to get work?

Have you used shielded cable to stop interverance?

Shielded cable is used. (PIN11 = signal, PIN30 = earth & PIN14 = shield wire)

maybe the sensor is faulty? I can't see any other reason why it shouldn't work.

Yes it's so easy. :D Only have to add three wires to loom and "lengthen" couple of wires.
