Pagid Drums

I've just bought a pair of Pagid drums from Euro Car Parts - Part number 62501.  They are 44.2mm deep, which should accommodate the wider GTI shoes, but what concerns me, is that the label on the box says "205 EX GTI".

There is only one "180x40" drum for the 205, GTI or not, and it's part number 4247.30. Most 309 also had this one so even now it's not that hard to find.

180mm is the inner diameter of the drum but 40mm is the width of the shoes and it looks like 44.2mm is for 30mm shoes.

Looking a bit at Euro Car Parts they sell the exact same drum for a 1.0 petrol, 1.6 petrol or 1.8 diesel 205. It's true if your 205 is a 1.6 automatic but not a 1.6 GTI.

Thanks for your quick reply, but I'm still a bit confused.   I checked the depth of the drum and it is indeed 44.2mm.  Why would that be inadequate for the 40mm GTI shoes?  Or is it a different dimension that is incompatible with the GTI?

gti drum is listed by TRW as 53.5 internal, 79.5mm external height.

DB4090B is the trw number for Peugeot 424730.

424725  is the Peugeot number for pagid 62501, so they will not be suitable for a GTI or euro rallye.

they will fit any other 205, including a 1.6 auto, 1.9 non gti auto, diesels etc

The HELLA-Pagid 62501 drum is listed as compatible with both 4247.25 and 4247.31 so that's not good.

4247.30 205, 309 drum for 40mm shoes

4247.31 205 drum for 30mm shoes

4247.32 309, 306, Xsara drum for 30mm shoes

Aside for the GTI/(euro)Rallye/Gentry only the D-turbo with ABR and the F Van had 40mm shoes.

Thanks Mei, Baptist for trying to help me.  I'm still struggling to understand what it is about these Pagid shoes that means I can't use them (which I may need to return them).  If it wasn't for the hassle of pressing in a bearing, I'd try one.

Is it possible that Pagid have designed a drum that can be used with 30 and 40mm shoes?
