Alternator exciter wire in 89 Mi16 405

Recommended Posts

Looking over a wiring loom on a 405 with an mi16 engine (yes, still in a 405! :P )

There is no Alternator exciter wire in two looms we have to hand,  both from 89 cars on a G plate, one BE1, one BE3,   also to hand were two H plate Mi16x4's,   these both have the wire present.

Not come across this myself before as my experience of them is limited on these, I know the 2.0, gti6 and 8v much better!

Behind the LH headlight there are two harness connectors, large black and large brown. In the large black the alternator is brown wire, 7A.

yes we found that on the 2 Mi16x4's, but its not in the two engine looms we have, haven't checked the car loom on the 89 car yet but baffled as to why two untouched engine looms don't have that wire.

Everything is in those two plugs, other than ECU.

What kind of alternator is fitted on the car? Maybe it's related to this:

FOR XU9J4 , AT THE TIME OF ALTERNATOR REPLACEMENT , PUT ON IMPERATIVELY 1200W 5705 A0

5705 A0 is a Mitsubishi unit, I don't know what they used before that.
