Quags 0 Posted December 14, 2022 Hi, Sorry for the long winded question, but I have noticed an inner boot on the OS driveshaft has split. Now, I have a 1.6-1.9 skip brown conversion with an Mi16 Gearbox and GTI-6 front discs. What on earth driveshafts will I have for this combo? I don't know yet if they'll all need replacing, or if I need to replace both shafts etc I just need to know where to start looking. Unfortunately I have no info on what the shafts are from the previous owner. I have just purchased a quickjack though, will make life much easier! Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
welshpug 1,621 Posted December 14, 2022 Take a wheel off and Look for either an m20 staked hub nut at 32mm across flats which means a 1.6 shaft, an M24 thread castellated nut at 35mm is a 1.9. With the age of things now though you are better off removing the shaft and just measuring up the cup o.d and shaft o.d to match up, there's loads of differences depending who made the shafts. Avoid stretchy boots, they just dont last, gkn spicer skf and a few other big brands are worth looking out for Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
