Seam sealer asbestos?

Recommended Posts

JaxiMazz

Been removing the original seam sealer for rust repairs on a 1986 phase 1 gti, but just dawned on me that there was asbestos commonly used in cars of this age. I've seen another post about there being amounts present in the bonnet soundproofing and clutch/brake linings but does any one know definitively whether there's any in the seam sealer? I think I'm safe since it doesn't really warrant it but you never know

Clutch lining only id say  although the seam sealer is fairly nasty toxic stuff once you melt it with the welder I find

Normally brake and clutch lining, sealer won't be asbestos.

Brilliant thanks for the quick replies! I'll have to write a reminder on the gearbox for when I do the clutch eventually.
