mmt 14 Posted June 13, 2022 Hi guys, my track only - slicks tires- 205 has too much grip in the back. How would raising the front impact this. My earlier 205 felt planted in the front and tail happy in the back which was much more to my liking. In a Strange Way it feels heavier compared to my earlier one. any pointers. cheers /M
SweetBadger 91 Posted June 13, 2022 Need a bit more info on your setup - dampers / coil overs, spring rates. I run a high enough spring rate up front (550lbs) that I don’t need the front arb. Removing it made the car far more pointy - way more front end grip on turn in. worth trying as it’s easy to disconnect the arb drop link track side.
mmt 14 Posted June 13, 2022 Thanks. I Just took the old suspension of the old car and installed it on the new car. However the new car drives very different. I believe that it is the front to rear (rake?) I got wrong. In general How Will raising/lowering the front impact the behaviour?
wicked 103 3 Cars Posted June 13, 2022 (edited) You need some rake on a 205. If you have the rear too low, the body will roll a bit strange. But as said, the whole setup of springs, dampers, arb's and front vs rear spring rate does play a big role. Edited June 13, 2022 by wicked
SweetBadger 91 Posted June 13, 2022 Yes seems to be well documented that you need to set the rear 15mm - 20mm higher than the front. Also have you checked wheel alignment since fitting? - 4mm-6mm toe out on the front wheels helps turn in.
mmt 14 Posted June 16, 2022 Thanks guys. turn in is good - it got the toe. however it feels heavy as a brick. I would like it to be more tail happy to be able to steer it with the rear/throttle. where do I best meassure the rake? thanks again.

mmt 14 Posted June 16, 2022 (edited) 1 cm higher in the back means weekend work. is 2 cm what I’m aiming for? thanks guys. Edited June 16, 2022 by mmt
petert 549 Posted June 19, 2022 At least 15mm, yes.
jord294 87 Posted June 19, 2022 15cm is bob on. I only tend to use a rake of about 10mm if I use uprated bars

andy0075 9 1 Cars Posted June 19, 2022 to get a lose rear : Try 1mm toe in on the front. My rear is more lose with less toe out on the front. And with toe out my tyre wear on the front was very bad. The inside of the tyres were completely rubbed off. Now, with toe in, the tyre wear from inside to the outside of the tyre is the same. You can also try to raise the air pressure in the rear tyres and thicker TB's / ARB. On the front you can try softer front springs, softer front ARB, front damper less compression stage. mmt 14 Posted June 20, 2022 Thanks - great input. I’ve tried less toe out on the front and didn’t like it. Understeer galore. Now the front is good but the rear is not.
