Arm Rests / Doorpulls Broken again

Recommended Posts

if you've owned a 205 you've had a broken one of these

(there's another version on the base model which doesn't look so good as an arm rest but these are the two versions we got here on the Si and GTi)

the one piece rubbery plastic version which has just failed at the usual point

and the other foam filled overmould job that blows out and cracks and automatically s*its itself after a while

this is about the 5th one that's failed and I'm over it

a basic track car door pull was considered, but's no good as mine's a daily regular car

and I use the arm rest

has anyone got any nylon 3D printed versions ? or polycarb, or anything ?

that's actually good to hear, gives me a little more confidence in looking for a new set (if they're available)

they were all pretty old

the foam filled ones don't like the summer heat and just deform over here so I went thru 2 or 3 before trying the other kind

and the one I've just broken are german made, both were already used and 25 plus years and maybe the xtra heat here has an effect after a while too

Just noticed  you call it an arm rest, thats probably  why you broke them!   They are only door handles.

Cracked a few of those during the years .... alu. wire mesh and soldering iron , stitching the broken bit back and it's good to go .

that's true, might have over-rested my arm once or twice

the base model ones look stronger but there's not as much armrest area

and I kinda figure if I bought it and fixed it, then its there to be used

maybe I'll have to try D, but don't rate my alu/mesh welding skills real high
