GTi6 ECU mounting

Recommended Posts

boldy205

Hi all,

I have to date been using a 306 battery/ecu box on my GTi6 converted 205.

I'm now putting the battery in the boot. Therefore I'd like to know what other people have done to mount the standard ECU in the standard position.

I've had a good Google,  to no avail.

Thanks!

Matt

Just re read my post. By standard ECU position,  I mean when it would be in the battery box.

Cheers!

Morning Matt, I chopped the ecu box off the battery box and the mounted it on top of the gearbox mount up against the strut tower.
from memory I put a few riv nuts in the bracket and then bolted the box straight down to it with some big spreader washers on the inside of the box.
haven’t got a picture to hand but if you find my 309 build thread there should be a picture in there.

Hi Allan,

I had a look at your 309 build, got a bit carried away in it all and totally  forgot to look for the battery box! Haha!

I'm thinking this may be the way. However I'm a bit against chopping up a good battery box.

Think I'll take what you said and maybe have an aluminium ecu box made up, modeled on the modified/cut up 306 battery box .

Definitely.  I've got a box and lid. Don't really want to waste a good one if I can help it.

Do it properly. Mount the ecu in the OEM position and remake the loom. Otherwise, it will always look like a bodge.
