Identification of engine block and cylinder head

Recommended Posts

Richard309Sri XU5JA 205GTi

quick one:-

have an engine block I thought was xu5/b6d for a standard 1.6gti 205 engine build

turns out it is D6D - don't know what engine this comes from?

405? bx?

can I use a 1.6 xu5 1.6gti crankshaft in this block?

and standard pistons and cylinder jackets? from the 1.6 205 gti engines

as per photos

I m in process of measuring etc

hope it's not bad news for me. someone with more experience would probably know this immediately.

thanks

that would have  been a 123 bhp bx gti/405 sri high torque 1.9.

the block and liners will be identical to a 1.6 of the same era.

infact I have done exactly this to rebuild an engine that had cracked the block (twice!)
