Can someone identify what this is?

 

1990 Gti:  (under engine) with a threaded bolt thats loose.

transmission bellhousing dust cover, as for the bolt you'd need to remove the gearbox to find out!

yeah it just is supposed to slide back and forward if you want a quick look inside the bellhousing. epoxy resin glue fix job I think would be fine for repair the plastic.
