replace AFM to MAF - thoughts?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

i'm currently has a little problem with my AFM and by wondering the internet i found out it it THEORATICALLY possible to replace the AFM to MAF with some modifications.

what is the pros and cons for doing that? will it affect the nature of the car?

has anyone tried to got this route?

i have Jetronic (1.6) system - it it possible to adapt the MAF to the standard system? what changes do i need to do?

thanks

Ido

p.s. i saw BMW E30s (that uses AFM) that successfully made this mod.

On a Jetronic to have something that is really spot on (and not just working) you need some kind of computer to recreate the fake AFM signal on the fly. Clearly it's not worth the hassle when you can slap an aftermarket ECU inside the Jetronic box.

Some have done MAF conversions on motronic ECUs, by tweaking the maps and maybe even the code itself you can use the MAF signal.
