Steering Rack Differences

I'm in the process of changing a few bits over. My old rack has part no 9431236021 and "5-1" stamped on it but the date circle stamp has a cross through it, and the new one has 7941103629 and "2-1" stamped on it, but "89" in the date identifier. I mean, visually, they look the same.

Would you say the 5-1 is the latest iteration and I should probably avoid the 7941103629 one?

Any way to tell which is which, where it's a revised part, whether it's ok to use before refitting everything etc etc? Can't find much really  

EDIT> ok, since posting this, it's just the square drive. The 7941103629 one is splined, the 9431236021 is square drive
