Which brand distributor cap XU9J4

My distributor cap chose to disintegrate at the end of a trackday yesterday. 

 

Which brand is advised to buy? 

I can choose valeo, QH or Bougicord?

Bougicord was/is PSA supplier for the ignition parts , thus that'll be best buy i'd say , it'll be OEM part .

 

Valeo is also good quality , unsure about QH never used that brand myself ..

I think the OEM version was Ducellier, but will order the Bougicord one.

It seems to occur more often that they break at high rpm, so think I'll order a spare one as well.

Yes , dizzy caps used to be Ducellier and Bosch .. Ducellier as an brand doesn't exist anymore , it's now part of the Valeo group .

 

Bougiecord though the years supplied ignition leads for the PSA range , they're well known for good quality spark leads .

 

Best to have an spare one just in case , as Mi16 dizzy tends to be a bit harder to find on stock .

If Ducellier is now part of Valeo, wouldn't it be better to pick the Valeo one?

Think the quality between the two will be kinda same , thus both good .

 

QH if i remember is just "parts re-packer" .

As I want to have a spare, I ordered 1 Valeo and 1 Bougicord....

I received them and what I already expected; they are completely identical, except for the box... 

So who is the repacker? Made in Italy on the cap.

If from Italy , guess they'll be "Facet" made dizzy caps :

Since they only fit on 309/405/BX mi16 , demand for them must be slim to "restart" production by each of the brands themselves hence using someone else .. probably "Facet" in this case as they still make a lot of dizzy caps for various old cars .

 

Or it might be Valeo production based in Italy .

Was it the cap at fault or the rotor arm coming loose? My dizzy cap was wrecked by the rotor arm working loose. 

One of those annoying breakdowns which you know is a 5 minute fix, but the AA man is never going to have a spare one in his van!

Rotor came loose.. At least it was loose in the cap and the 3 small bolts were gone. Rotor was screwed as well. Had still a spare rotor (and cap ), so I'll order 2 new rotors as well and put a set in the trunk of my cti and set in the racers toolbox. 

Used loctite now, so don't expect it will fail again.
