Front jacking point / lower floor welding

Recommended Posts

adybatt

any guidance on whats required in repairing / welding front floor around the jacking points? Passenger side the worst, some gentle agitation with a screwdriver making a hole (left of the jacking point in the picture). Sills in relatively good shape, suspect they're been replaced already previously.

Can this be put right by any decent welder? or will this require floor cuts to make a decent repair?

Many thanks,

Adrian

It can be done by careful cutting with some smaller disc , just nice and easy not to cut trough the upper floor base as it's "double skin" panel ..

That's the floor stiffener which is spot welded around the chassis leg onto the floor base and bottom of the sill seam , not the end of the world even if you cut trough the top floor part just weld up the cuts and paint/protect , spray wax inside the the stiffener panel and plug up the holes with rubber plugs .
