Removing and refitting strut brace

Recommended Posts

I want to take off to get to my brake servo etc, and gonna strip and respray the brace too.

If I take it off, car unjacked up, will it just slip back on, or will I mess up my lovely geometry and perfect set up?? Thx in advance!

The brace can be removed one nut at a time. It's only there when the car is cornering to prevent flex,it doesn't alter any geometry.

Yeah I meant undoing the strut will possibly affect geometry :)

its unlikely it will affect it by much at all if you leave it on its wheels when removing it, put the nuts back on if you do need to raise the vehicle.

As welshy mcPuglington says make sure the car is on a flat surface and it goes on in a “relaxed” position

I once in my naive youth put one on and wound it outwards effectively adding positive camber, you’d be astonished how much (very bad) difference it made to the flimsy 205 shell

yeah, wheels need to be on the ground, otherwise struts will fall out.
