Hi all.

lot’s of info on mc’s calipers and disks, but I can’t find much on the booster. Mines leaking. It measures 20cm 8 inch. Is that standard?

Std for gti yes. A kit is available to rebuild. Might be your only option, as new ones are rarer than rare

Oke. Will 9 inch 206 fit? Looks the same on internet.

If your car is a left hand drive GTI they have a larger servo that wont fit UK right hand drive cars*

IIRC it is meant to be 225mm.

*I fitted a left hand drive servo to a right hand drive 205 but it needed modifications to the scuttle.

It’s lhd, but its a Frankenstein. 1.4 xy lacoste org. But 1.6 gti suspention. Dunno about the rest. I guess the 225/9 can’t hurt. Brake balance was spot on last mot, but it needs some effort. But the daily is an 2015 focus with big brakes (cause the engine is tiny) so not a fair comparison I guess. MC is iron one with 4 lines on it.

Still in doubt a bit. 206 9 inch is half the price and looks identical on the pic. But it is another parts number. PSA452 TRW vs PSA370 TRW

206 boosters look the same, but are not exactly the same. The mounting studs are longer on the 206 ones. I did made one fit in a 205 project, but did not test it yet.

Also the cylinder stud pattern is different, which require a 206 cylinder.  Might be easier to find a proper used base model booster?

O shoot.  PSA370 TRW is 306 one. 206 does look different indeed. 306 does look identical and is half the price.

Both types reference the 306 with xu7, so I have taken plunge.

Does your LHD car differ from my RHD car though, in size of servo, I mean?

According the mods, yes. RHD can't fit 9 inch without modification.

That's a shame! Really upsetting you can't just buy these off the shelf any more :(

In a couple of days I will have the 306 one, and I can update what differs. I guess it's just the lip on which your bonnet seal-rubber-thingy sits, what is hindering you.

Great thanks, yeah if it slots right on and just needs some scuttle panel chopping, thats great news!

I don't think I chopped anything, it just needed some 'adjustment' with a hammer and a bit of wood...

Good luck getting one apart

They are available new still, the 9" version, I fitted one last year, minor adjustment to bulkhead for it to clear.

PSA370 is the one I bought now. Let's see.

Underneath is an 1985 base model shell. Now why would they put in this extra space to suit an 9 inch servo for gti, but only for LHD, and not weld in the bigger rear wheel arches? I would think having the same shell for all models would cheaper. PSA logic still baffles me.

Better pic

Maybe the bottom of the big servo was too close from the engine. Even if you consider that there is enough clearance PSA might think otherwise.
