Door card replacing the actual card

Recommended Posts

I tried refitted my door card after it being off the car for a while and it really struggles to clip on. The main problem being that the card itself is very warped, so is wanting to pop the clips out. Has anyone tried cutting their own card and refitting the cover/foam/plastic on it? The material just looks like bog standard hardboard sheet that's used in the backs of flat-pack cupboards, so surely can't be too hard to work with. The only tricky looked part is getting the bend at the top.

Might be worth asking Alastair how he got on with wetting and flattening his out:

I haven’t as of yet as the car is in storage and what with lockdown I can’t get too it. I do want to try it though as it bugs me big time.

Yes I did this a little while ago. As you said I just used hard board from b&q and some foam over that for that “squishy” texture. Pretty easy if not time consuming, laying the old over the new and tracing holes etc.

I've just started doing it. Just cut out some board with holes. The tricky bit is getting the bend at the top of the card.
