Crankshaft Pulley Removal with Engine out

Recommended Posts

The Gentleman

Looking to change my crankshaft pulley for a light version (BakerBM), my engine is out on a stand with the gearbox off - what is the recommended method of removing and refitting. I understand this is secured by a nut with +100nm torque setting, need to lock the crack to un-do/re-do and don't what to damage anything. Can anyone help? Manual only describes with engine in.

if you have an assistant then have them hold a suitable tool in the teeth of the flywheel whilst you pull on a big bar.

or borrow a good impact wrench, makita or Milwaukee's larger offerings will buzz them off, possibly even their smaller ones.

or if you cant do the above and dont mind waiting a few days order a flywheel locking tool.

Thanks for your reply, much appreciated. I’ll have a look for a flywheel locking tool, no idea that you could get one!
