I used a heat gun and a scraper make sure your garage is well ventilated and wear a respirator mask.

Its pretty time consuming but it revealed parts that were starting corrode where the underseal had cracked and held moisture, I have been treating these areas with bilt hambers deox gel to remove the rust, once removed I then apply hydrate 80 to stabilise the area until I treat the whole floor.

Sounds like a good strategy. I’ve got the same Bilt Hamber products. I’ll give the heat gun a go once I release the rear cross brace from captivity - it’s harbouring a lot of rust above it.

Thanks

Never thought of using one of them

I find it a better way to get the bulk of it off. Then hit the remains with a wire brush or a poly strip disc.

Keep up the good work, i have a similar repair to do on my floor, not looking forward to it.

Good effort!! That must be pretty satisfying. How was the fit of the panel generally?

I have the repair section for mine, so hope to get that on the go in the next few weeks.

Had to do a little trimming here and there, but to be honest it was a pretty good fit.

Just make sure you take your time and keep checking the fit, as I must of fitted it on and off about half a dozen times!!!

Thought I would post an update the welding is finally finished!!!

I have now painted the underside with rustbuster EM121 epoxy mastic this stuff is tough once dry and applied sprayable seam sealer to give that factory finish.

Now just waiting till it gets a bit warmer to paint the underside with gravitex stonechip & 2K paint.

Nice job well done.

Having completed one and part way through a second from underneath on my back, I’ve decided that the next one is 100% going on a spit.

Its so much easier on a spit from welding to painting I was like you, tired of working on cars lying on my back.

The underside is looking mint

Do you have a link to the spit you used or was it one you made yourself?

It's based on one from this company a mate of mine had one for another car so I measured the A-frames and bought the attachments separately from https://www.rolloverjigs.com/

However, I will be putting the attachments or possibly the full jig up for sale once I'm done.

I can now finally start to get it rolling again in preparation for the external bodywork being painted.

Now that the inside & engine bay are now in colour

It's been a while since I updated this project I've been busy as you will see in the pics.

It's been a long slog but she is finally rolling with the main tub painted which I did myself due to being let down by my bodyshop man so taught myself.

Just the bolt on panels to do now which I am currently in the process of doing.

Excuse the mess inside the car I'm struggling for space !!!
