Building up front strut + bits - B4's + 206 Springs

Recommended Posts

I've finally got round to building up my Bilstein B4 front shocks (black ones) and new bearings, mounts, everything.. and I'm using the 206 Eibach Pro-Kit Springs - (E7024-120)

First question -

I wanted to check - I know some Bilstein's have built in bump stops, but I trust these don't? I've bought some full height bump stops in anticipation anyway.

It seems to be a fairly tight fit on the tube so a touch of WD40/grease is going to be needed to get it on enough. Doing it by hand as it is means the tube compresses (to give you an idea of how tight it is currently)

Second question -

The "washer" that is supposed to sit above the bump stop, at the base of the threaded part of the tube, does anyone know a definitive size this should be? I am also guessing it needs to fit on top of the wide part of the tube (as per my photo position), rather than be able to slide right down the tube, yes (ie with a 23mm hole in the washer)?

So I think it's around 37mm, with about a 12mm hole - just to cover the width of the thread and sit beneath the thread on the shanked part of the tube? But how thick does it need to be? I read someone said 3-4mm thick but I've nothing 'in stock' like that.

Photo for reference below..

Is this current washer a touch too small, at 35mm, and possibly too thin? What do we think?

Thanks!

Thanks, can’t find one anywhere and servicebox is dead :(

You don’t  happen to have a part number for one do you that might exist still in some form?

edit - found this on Another forum, needs double checking though

Anyone else running black B4’s? Do I even need the extra bump stops or does it have built in ones? Getting conflicting information

only the inverted struts have an internal bump stop,  the B4 is an oem replacement and will need a standard bump stop fitted, I had B4's on mine many many years ago.
