1.6 GTi NS driveshaft

Hi there sorry if this is an obvious question, just don't want to run into any issues.

Gotta replace the driveshaft on my 1.6 GTi. Passenger side, 1991 year be3 gearbox. Seen plenty of info about the driver's side but can't find any guidance on the NS one

Straightforward job. Drain oil. Remove wheel etc undo shaft nut, split lower arm balljoint. Pull old shaft out. Replace seal is a good idea, it doesn’t go in flush. Shove new one into box then insert in hub. Put it all back together. Refill with gearbox oil 75w80. Spec is 1.8 litres I often just put 2x 1litre bottles in.

Ok that sounds alright, what do you mean it doesn't go in flush? The seal? And is the 1.6 and 1.9 shafts different? Before I order lol.

Thanks for this

Don't keep tapping the new seal in until it stops! Look at your old seal before you remove it to see how far to tap the new one in.

1.6 and 1.9 shafts are different but the seal in the gearbox is the same for both.
