Grinding gears?

Recommended Posts

HelmutGTI

When engaging reverse after my engine warmed up, I have a hard time engaging it and there is a hard grindning noise.

could there be anything else then a bad syncro? And if so is it a straight forward job to fix it.

I have overhauled the engine myself and every other part on the car is either refurbished or changed to new by me since I have totally renovated my 205, so I guess my mechanic skills is up for the task.

Well now it daunt me! Is there even synchro ring on reverse? I know many car back in the days didn’t have that so you had to go from neutral to gear to reverse? Is that the case?
