Alternator Drive Belt replacement required - Where to find?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

Have just purchased a lovely low-mileage 1990 1.1 Peugeot 205 (TU1 engine) but the alternator belt is looking a little shabby.

Thought I'd replace it BUT having trouble finding a new one from the usual suspects (Euro Car Parts, GSF etc).

Any thoughts on where to get one?

Peugeot themselves perhaps??

Thanks, in advance. :)

any decent motorfactor should be able to sort you out!

I think they're a 710 or 685mm V belt.

Different brands have little bit different coding but it's usually 4PK698 or 4K698 etc. ... "4" meaning number of ribs on the belt , and "698" length of the belt in mm's .

Slightly longer or shorter belt will be fine as well .. as you have a bit of space in the tension mechanism to accommodate little bit longer or shorter belt .

If there's a lot of variations for one specific type of engine , and the old belt is gone so no sample , i usually use an piece of string wrapped around the pulleys in order to see/measure (roughly) which belt length it needs .
