Thinking about changing oil viscosity from 10W40 to 5W40

Hi.
I own an regular 205 1.4i from 1998.
Engine currently run with Valvoline 10W40 Semi. No oil consumption/Problems.

Car is not running daily, but it's run every week for couple of hours.
I'm living in a country with hot climate in the summer (32-40 Celsius), and in the winter the nights are not so cold (5-8 Celsius+-)

I'm thinking about going back to the roots, put something french from Total.
My options are:

Stay with the 10W40 Semi and put Total Quartz 7000.
Move to Fully synthetic oil with different viscosity, Total Quartz 9000 5W40.

What do you think is best for my car?

Agreed. If it’s running well on what you use, don’t start making changes.
