Mi16 No Spark Omex

Recommended Posts

So my 205 track car with a mi16 fitted has been off the road for the last few months having new exhaust valves. I finally put it all back together and now it won't start!

It's fitted with twin carbs, so it definately has fuel. Ignition is controlled by an early omex Ignition only ecu.

I've tried checking for a spark by putting a tester in line with the King lead with no luck, so that must mean the issue is this side of the rotor arm, dizzy cap and leads. With ignition on, there is 12 volts on 1 of the wires going to the coil. I've tried another coil which made no difference.

Can anyone suggest anything else I can check? Should the other wire on the coil see any voltage while cranking? I may get another coil or get the ecu checked over next.

I've had the laptop connected up earlier today and all the sensors seem OK.

do you get a crank signal on the ecu?

if its like dta you can test each output to see if they work using the software

Yeah crank signal is OK, I take it that's where it gets rpm from?

Not starting in what way? What happens when you turn the key?

All sorted now. It was turning over but not firing - turns out that there was a break in the positive coil wire!
