Rear drum - hand brake cable removal

Recommended Posts

danj.pdx

Hi,

This is a very basic question, but I'm stuck. How does one remove the handbrake cable from the drum brake housing w/o damaging the cable? Thanks in advance for the answer to this super-basic question.

Dan.

Pretty sure that I just used a drift and hammer on the area in the photo.

You always need a good set of drifts and a hammer when working on cars

In practise be prepared to destroy it getting it out, if you absolutely must.

Thanks all - I'd thought there was a some way to back rotate or separate that cap from the cable. I'll revert to more primitive methods.

Thank you again,

Dan.

Not too much pounding and both sides are done - nothing damaged. Thanks to all for the insight.
