I brought this little gem a couple of years a go to have a go at some 12 car rally and other advents that my local motor club, as some people from drivers see on my Facebook account me doing bits and bobs I thought it was time to put a thread up as there is not much going on.

The first time 205 has been outside and put nexted to the winter hack, I put my shades on to look at the engine bay and inside B) the shell will have the panels refitted and the rest of paint work done in a oven. I will try to update as I move along with build, yes some of the ways I have done things mite be wrong or not to a good standard but im happy with my work and I know my sentences and spelling mite not be of a good standard but again I'm not a keyboard worrier and show my skills with my hands.

Cheers

Dale

Good to see the diary on here Dale. I've seen a lot of the photos on FB but that platform is awful for information being too transient, there one minute, gone the next. With a thread on here its a good record of the ongoing work. I like to read my old builds through now and again.

Now this is an honest question, have you actually done any night events before? I only ask as you end up going down the roughest narrowest bumpiest scratchiest lanes known to man, well at least up here you do. The point I'm trying to make is that I would not get hung up about an oven paint job, from these photos I'd say you are more than capable of doing it yourself. Should you then scrape or mark a panel its easy enough for you to put it right, you also won't get precious about the car in the heat of competition. Its nice to have a well turned out car, but don't go OTT. I would also tie the cage into the pillars as much as possible, its surprising the difference to rigidity of the shell that it makes.

If anything I would say spend the money on the suspension, brakes, LSD.

Too late now, but given you've added strengthening plates, I would have taken the opportunity to change the strut mounting points, in order to pickup some caster. Nice work!

Cheers Tom, I thought it was time to put something on here as I thought the build was wasted on Facebook and show a few people what I can do.

I have done a couple a while a go and spent a lot of time on the routes in my younger days and I am ready for scrapes and dents will probly end up crying tho but in some ways I sort of fallen out of love with 205's and got fed up looking at it in the workshop as I'm spending more time with my boy going off road on are motorbikes and that's sort of why I sold the red 205 xs and mite get rid of the topaz gti6 and just have my silver 1.9 and my white 1.6 and buy something different. I did look into tieing the cage more and some ways I wish I went for a bolt in as I wouldn't like to start welding bits to a bolt in but if I do it again with my spare shell that would be on the list.

I'm going to get inside back together and engine in while on trolley then move onto running gear.

Do you think I'm getting to old to be playing with 205's as that's how I feel some times.

I didn't really want to do that sort of things on this one but suggestions like that go in the note book for nexted project and this is why I should of put this thread up to start with. Thank you just got to get back into it and not go out on off road bikes with the boy and get muddy.

Thanks. The spit came from a company on eBay there called handlingsoloution and they started off just making them for old ford and they do the kit to fit a 205 all I can say is I will never do another bare shell with out one.
