Inner wing strengthening section?

Recommended Posts

Philpooma

I took both front wings of my car today as part of its resto and found what looks like a strengthening section between the A post and the side of the strut turret on the off side. The near side does not have this. It looks like its from the factory as the front wings have not been removed before, everything was oem.

looking at images of other shells, some have this and some dont. Can anyone tell me the story behind this addition please?

yes its original, not sure exactly when they started fitting them.

possibly to help with bulkhead flex, the master cylinder moves a surprising amount when you lean on the pedal

Thanks for your reply. When I first saw it I was concerned that it was a dodgy accident repair as its clearly hand welded into place. Then I saw that the wing fixings and sealant were original, phew.

I assume that this addition was started from a particular date, would be interesting to know when this started and the facts behind it :D
