Wire up

Hi guys

Bought a plug and play set of wires for the head lights. No original wires in the car.

The drawing from the box says: Relay 85 to Ground , 87 to lamps, 30 to positive and 86 to switch.

Here comes My question:  How do I wire the switch? I have a switch with 2 terminals and a switch with 3 terminals. The 86 wire to one terminal and then what where? Which switch should I use?

I’m only after on/off.

Thanks.

+12v (fused) to the switch (the 2 terminals one) then to 86. As 85 is Ground 86 must be +12v used for command.

But aren't you talking about the driving lights under the bumper?

It’s for the main headlamps. Only to turn them on/off. Track car only.

The positive (30 slot) is in line fused.

The box came with a 3 terminal switch.

Like this? Wonder if the 3 legged toggle switch is a better setup?

With this schematic you need to use a big fuse so you don't really protect the switch and relay coil.

There is more than one kind of 3 terminal switch: it could be a ON-OFF-ON one or a ON-OFF with a light indicator.

What is a Big fuse?

He means a big value fuse, the wire to the bulbs has e.g. 10A going through it but the wire to the switch just has a few milliamps to drive the coil in the relay so it should have its own smaller (value in amps) fuse.

Great Thanks.

The bulbs Will get the 15 A fuse which came with the wires. The switch Will get a 5 A fuse.
