Leaking rear wiper motor

Recommended Posts

I've been trying to track down water leaks in my car, and now I've removed all the interior to do some bodywork stuff, it should make it easier. After a downpour I usually end up with a puddle under where the rear seats are. I've narrowed it down to two places:

 - The hole in the boot where the plastic panel attaches to - so I've filled that in to block it off.

 - The rear wiper motor. Initially I thought it was the seal around the hole in the boot that the motor pokes through,  but it actually appear to be getting through the gap between the spindle and the outer part somehow. The back of the motor has gone rusty showing where the water has got through.

So can the motor be fixed, or is it better getting another one? If I get a second-hand one is there the risk it'll be the same problem?
