Exhaust manidold gasket position?

Hi, i trying to install the manifold on my engine and i have a problem. I have the OE gaskets and two middle port doesn't seem to fit ok.

 

In the gasket there is Fire rings on the edge of the port to protect the gasket . To my knowledge the fire rings should face the engine but when i try to fit them, it's either - one fire ring face the engine and one face the other way  ( option one) OR when i try to face both rings to the engine they fouline each other (which can easily be fixed with a dremel) -option two.

Are you sure you have the correct parts?

they look fine, I would not worry about them, just fit whichever direction matches the ports best.
