Tu 24 sump

Evening All,

I've had a small oil leak between the block and the sump pan, but after a couple of weeks in the garage it had leaked a bit more tha n usual from the front of the sump/block joint just above the oil filter. After a battle with the tubular exhaust manifold I got the sump off. The sump/block joint had been sealed with some black sealant.

Bit of a dilemma, I had assumed there was a gasket so I'd bought one along with some clear silicone rtv. What do I do, just refit the sump with some sealant or use the gasket?

Although the bottom end etc is all beautifully clean, thanks to so many regular oil changes, the chain on the oil pump looks perfect but it does have some slack between the sprockets. Is this normal?
