BE3 diff spacers / preload

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I'm currently rebuilding my BE3 'box and see some spacers on the parts diagram that sit next to the diff bearing.  I assumed these are for adjusting the preload on the taper bearings, so bought the set from Peugeot.  However, my 'box didn't have a spacer in when I stripped it???

So two questions for the guru's out there:

  1. Should it have a spacer?
  2. What should the adjustment figure be?

Thanks,

Nobbly

At the later BE3 boxes the tail piece (where the speedo drive resides) has been machined in such a way that there always is sufficient preload on the bearings.

Doh!

Anyone want a kit of spacers?

They were nearly the most expensive item in the whole job.

Maybe my friendly dealer will take them back...
