New Conrods

Recommended Posts

My new conrods arrived today. I know it's hard to believe, but these were designed and made locally in Australia by Argo Marine. I didn't think we made anything anymore. Despite being 10mm longer, they're 100g lighter than a standard XU10J4 rod.

They look stunning as well. Are those halves cracked or cut? (out of curiosity)

Yes. Replacing the engine that went off like a hand grenade earlier this year. The price was AUS$2K. This was bit more than Robsons, which I would have paid import duty and freight on. A bit less than Carillo, which again would have attracted taxes. Using the local company also allowed me to supply them the pins easily, so the clearance was done during manufacturing. Often bushes are left a tad under size and need a hone to get perfect, which is another added cost. I'm certain the halves are cut. Only powdered rods are cracked.
