Lowering 205 XR and wheel size?

Recommended Posts

villemil

Hello. I bought my first car today :) Peugeot 205 XR from 1988 :D

Now I'm planning to lower it a bit and change to some good looking rims.

The question is, what should I do to lower my car and make it a bit stiffer? And how big rims fit good? Not planning to do anything extreme.

I like 885 RS Classic wheels (BBS replicas). Those are 7x15" and offset is 20mm. Will those fit without any mods?

I think that you'll really struggle with 7" wide wheels on a base model, especially lowered.  I suspect the offset will cause you problems too without a spacer as that's going to be very close to the rear beam arm and inner arch.

I can those wheels with spacers that is no problem. But my car is non-GTI version so will that wide wheels even fit? If not, how wide wheels do?

I have 14x6 Michelin wheels off a 106 Rallye, they are about as wide as you can go without arch extensions..

15” wheels dont look right on a flat arch base model

I'm not sure if it was the same in Finland, but here in the UK, Saxo VTR models (and possibly others?) had the same design/size wheel but in black as a spare.... and there's loads of them getting broken for parts and sitting in scrapyards.
