Timing Belt Crank Seal

Recommended Posts

Anybody had issues with febi crank seals (timing end)?

Got one of Ebay to sort a weeping seal-result- got me a gusher!!!

Bought one today from local factors and its tighter (both say 42 mm) but a lot deeper as well

Waiting for new belt as it shat oil all over the other one

Seals and gaskets I only use Victor Reinz, Elring or Goetze.

Seals have a rotation direction, so if you've only looked at the size this could be a reason for leaking, although it shouldn't be gushing. Also in some cases the oilpump drive sprocket has a worn surface which doesn't help either, when assembling watch that you aim the sealing lip on a fresh part.

Fitted second seal tonight, new belt etc and fired her up

No leak

Second seal did however have a rotation arrow on it and a far beefier (if that’s the word) scroll to it
