More progress, sunroof fitted. In the end I've bonded and sealed it to the roof. Reused the screws and found an alternate for the rear strip. It won't leak .. but it's never coming off again!

It still has tape fitted but being as they are old screws I just bonded it on and sealed all the threads and sealed each riv nut cabin side. It's not going to leak but like I say it's not coming off again for sure !

I spent a good 2 hours working out where the sunroof vacuum pipes ran. Also the drain hoses and the aerial cable. Getting all 3 pulled through the pillar from top to bottom was a hideous nightmare.

The other drama I had was working out how the ECU mounting plate fits. It actually goes through the right front dash mounting stud that is secured in the scuttle panel area. This took me the best part of 90 minutes to work out. Completely stumped me until I tried to fit the dash and then I realised what was going on.

Quite a big day today. Fuel tank fitted and all fuel lines. Most of the electrical hooked up. ECU powered and no fires! Sensors like the TPS set up. Tomorrow fuel , oil and engine start

So today was a big day in the history of this project. Jackherer and I fitted a few bits and got the  wiring more or less sorted. Fitted the clocks and filled the engine with coolant and oil.

After some confirmatory checks and slight modification to the engine loom the car successfully converted fuel into noise and power. Combustion achieved for about 3 or 4 seconds. It wont idle but pretty sure this is due to the map on the ECU.

Pretty happy. Many thanks Kieran

Brilliant update.

You just cant beat that feling when a freshly built engine starts up for the first time.

I know last time i did it despite getting pre start oil pressure I was very, very nervous.

So the main gear selector has come back form the powder coaters with the bush melted out... Anybody have any genius solutions to this please?

In others news I've fitted a new temp sensor to my largely redundant AFM

probably, as i never use them, i dispense with the short hose to the caliper and make up a single piece line as psa did on the zx xsara and 306.

Yeah I've realised they aren't the ones I need . I have the bottom ones that attach to the damper bolt. I dont have the ones above the beam so I will have some made

Do you know where there is a photo of a gear rod with the tab welded on for a rose joint?

I've been trying to describe it to Paul but a picture paints a thousand words.
