Cranking, But No Spark.

Recommended Posts

Hello, while driving the engine simply cut out.

I've found out that the coil has power, but no power from coil.

So far I've replaced the crank position sensor. The fuel relay clicks and fuel pump has power.

It's also interesting to note that for some time now the rev counter needle had been sticking at random locations for a moment.

I think the coil or the ignition module has failed. Any ideas guys? :)

The engine is a 8v motronic M1.3

Not my engine system but I'd personally suspect module first

You have power to coil but it's not firing-if module controls the pulse from coil then that's what I'd go for

On my 89 plate theres the lead from distributor to module-I've inadvertently disconnected it a rake of times now doh!!

Thanks :) , as I've read there's no way testing it either. Only by replacing it with a working one?

check if injectors are firing, if they are then ecu is seeing crank signal and itll be the ignition amplifier most likely, especially if you have confirmed power to the coil

Problem solved :) Ignition amp was dead.
