Very 1960-70's. How old are you?

It was still a thing in the 80's. It was even standard on the Fiat Ritmo/Strada 130 TC.

It's still a big thing now on VW Transporters over here, though they are a little more subtle than that one. They are more for keeping the rain out when you want to crack open the window on a muggy day.

I remember the old Holden Premier ones sloping about town with the matching visor over the front, but they were already funny

Im more 80's 90's

thought I was getting one like in the picture below, subtle like ash says, for exactly that - leaving the window open a bit in the rain,

but it was the last one L'aventure had so took a chance

G3 make a more subtle shaped deflector.

I fitted some to my 309 SRi and it has improved things.

There was an area I used to drive through that had a wasp flight path crossing it. With the window down about 10cm the airflow caused several incidents with a wasp getting sucked into the cabin. After two cases of having them deflect off my glasses or face and end up buzzing in my lap I fitted a set made by G3. Problem solved.

They fit into the channel and are located using barbed clips. No drilling required.

Mine came from a supplier in Ireland who is currently out of stock ( https://www.micksgarage.com/d/wind-deflectors/peugeot/peugeot-205/205-mk-ii-1987-to-1998/products )

This is an example of the style:

nice, looks like the aftermarket ones are much better

maybe mine's the tourist version to go with the towball and rackety van

there was no drilling for my bulbous OE unit

Finally got it back together after a disastrous end to the 2021 race season.

A lot needed to put it right:

- New door

- New Inner / Outer Rear 1/4

- Replacement rear glass

- New

- Car on jig to pull out sill / boot floor and make sure shell still straight

- New rear stub axle

- Replacement cage (side of main hoop was bent)

Even had time to give it a polish and take it for a quick blast.

From this:

To this.

Thanks to @pug_ham for persevering in getting the door shut reinforcement panel out of a CTi in one piece so it could be used in the repairs.

Right off, I should say I only have a humble Peugeot 205 GL (1990) which is rare in Communist Vietnam, never mind a GT! Vietnam was just beginning to open up to the world and the history of this car would be intriguing (high ranking police & officials used it). Made-in and imported from France, the Vietnamese registration book however leaves the displacement (cm3) blank! My guess is it's probably a TU3 (1360cc) but I haven't found a reference that exactly matches the ID markings. I have since overhauled the engine and tried decoding the engine and chassis identification codes. Here are details if someone would please have a go at it and some photos of the overhaul.

PEUGEOT 205 GL

VIN on the riveted plaque on body under the hood:

 VF320AK3123772880

    1220 kg

    1920 kg

1   750 kg

2   680 kg

ENGINE DISPLACEMENT: ??? cm3 (Blank on registration card)

ENGINE NO: 23772880 (stamped onto aluminium engine block matching last 8 digits of VIN)

Metal tag (riveted to engine block - four separate markings):  *K3A  *PTC *TYPE (blank) *REGL. (blank)

Note: I have seen engine codes TU3S-K2A and TU3S-K2B  ((205 XR,GR,SR,CJ) and one reference to K3A which is "legislation type" for TU3 TR engine ("TR" shows reduced compression ratio).
Another riveted metal tag: 1F SOC 673512 (dotted stamping).

Carburettor: Weber (single, made in Italy, assumed original)

Trim: Matches GL phase 2.

Thank you from the other side of the planet!

Gave the GTI a quick rinse after its been sitting for years covered in dust and threw the jenveys on for some inspiration!

Need to paint the cam/timing covers again to match them.

No real excitement, just the purchase of a full set of Brembo discs / pads to replace the current aging Black Diamond grooved setup that was fitted back in '09 a few months after i'd bought the car.

Drove it properly for the first time, found some slop in the steering UJ, easily fixed and a new driveshaft with play in it (crappy shaftec)

All fixed though. Only took 4 years and 3 months to get to drive her.

Ps, its the black car, green is Chris417mi

got a parts package from Serie04, all the way from europa

put on the diesel filler pipe label .  it can't be changed from the outside  ( so let down the tank, remove a bunch of stuff, extract filler pipe etc and all just to get one little label into position)

and swapped my original steel exhaust manifold nuts for these new flash copper ones. I've always used heaps of antisieze on the exhst manifold studs/nuts already so haven't experienced any corrosion lock or whatever but thought I'd give these copper nuts a go. they seem to have a tighter thread than the originals, almost like interference fit maybe to prevent them winding off

the ones nearest the turbo were the ones that would get most heat and potentially corrode the worst, but it was a major operation to get at and remove them, so I hummed and ha'd and just left the original exhst mnfld nuts on the right side in place, and only changed the left side. undermining my own efforts somewhat

..after all the effort of putting on the new diesel filler pipe label, the tank breather pipe had came off (on the tank end) without noticing it

so driving around after I lost some diesel turning left corners and noticed the smell

back in to let the tank down and reconnect the pipe with the clip all snug

managed to get one more copper exhaust mnfld nut on (4 out of 6) then did the annual carwash
