Painted my rear valance and added it to the "parts to go on" pile.

Needs sanding and polishing but I'll let it cure a bit longer first.

Note that I will only be fitting one of the three pictured water pumps :P

Started it - started first time after a couple of years :)

Boot struts were no holding the boot up so replaced the one I had not replaced recently - no joy.  Swire and wandered off.  Next day swapped the recently replaced with an ECP part strut with the old (from a scrapyard a few years ago) gas strut and success :)  Doesn't say very much for the ECP part though that it died after only about 4 years on the car.  Suspect I will be replacing the one I just fitted in the not too distant as the one that died was bought at the same time as the one I just fitted.

Boot now staying open I decided to try to empty the car.  When our garage was rebuilt I filled the car with all sorts of stuff I did not want outside or in a shed (about 3 years ago).  Found a few random things I never knew I had, taking the trolley jacks out made the rear suspension look much better, just an engine crane to get out now!

Ordered a new gearknob from Peugeot museum as mine had split top to bottom while it had been sitting in the garage.

Next step book an MOT...

Bought a new one!

Just got the black car home, it's a track prepped gti with an mi16 engine, can't wait to have a go in it!

I think the guy who built it was part of the psooc years ago, does anyone remember it?

After 2 and a half weeks of working in the garage from 7pm till after midnight, 2am at latest, got my road rally car together and off for its MOT Wednesday. With it MOT'd insured and taxed, I was ready for an event this Saturday night. As I was making the spot light brackets on Wednesday night, got an email to say the event has been cancelled!!! Arse! But the car is together at least.

That sounds right, it came with some reciepts with the name Martin on them. I had it from a guy in Kent.

Its had a lot done to it, but does need a lot of tidying. I think its been used as a track/rally/race car since he sold it.

Took it for a run - 20 minutes in it cut out at 50mph and clunked to a halt on the verge - balls :(  Got it started again and managed to limp the last 2 odd miles home at 30mph in 3rd gear with the car feeling like it was running on 3 cylinders :(

Had a similar running / cutting out issue late last year & early this year but after getting all the usual plugs, leads, dizzy, etc, replaced it had run fine in the warmer summer weather.

Something clearly not quite right somewhere so will have to get it looked at.  Or maybe the car's just trying to tell me it doesn't like being used in colder weather

Found things I really hoped were not there. Plenty of rot to get working on.

Got the car up on axle stands, removed the interior and the fuel tank prior to mild restoration

Took the car down the road to get a new tyre valve fitted after the previous one started leaking last week.

Broke down (again) on the forecourt with the car clattering to a halt after a reasonably loud bang / backfire :(

Tyre place were nice enough to tow me the half mile home for free , which was nice and unexpected and saved having to wait for recovery :)

Fairly certain it's terminal as it won't run at all now so time to start making plans for an expensive repair bill / engine overhaul, etc. next year.

Neither today nor a 205, but it was nice to see this brace of AX GTs running at the Trial I marshalled at on Sunday.

They were doing well too - getting up slopes that the Saxos struggled with.

Any chance you can get me some close up photos of that lug on the rear quarter where the bumper bolts to. Ideally with a steel rule to show dimensions and placement, need to know how far forward and how much it is set back from the quarter etc.

Hi Richie, yes I’ll do that for you today and post up later on, in the meantime I have the images from when ai removed the bumper but they dont have any steel rule in place. Again if you still need the measurements I’ll post up later.
