Do You Know What Ecu Is This?

Recommended Posts

A friend of mine give me this ECU for searching how to tune it, but I dont know which type of ECU can be.

It have a "serial port?", or at least a joystick connector which seems to be an interface for pc, but without the correct software will be almost impossible.

It have too a sticker where we can read "CASINCA GARAGE", searching on the net I didn´t found any information of this workshop or tuning specialist.

The ECU is for a GTI6 engine, and have a "security system" on the chip, it have a light sensing chip which seems to delete the data as you open the back lid.

Here a pic:

Better pics tomorrow

Thanks!

;) That's not a light sensing data deleting security feature. It's some sort of prom, eprom/eeprom, the window is so it can be erased with ultraviolet light. Leaving it out in the sun could take weeks and weeks to blank it so simply opening the ecu indoors should be completely safe, whereas a sunbed could certainly destroy its contents. If its blank and/or unwritable its probably dead through improper programming/programmer voltage, being inserted the wrong way round, or a write once prom. As for the ecu anything on the casing number/label/stickerwise?

There's a "Magnetti Marelli" stamp on the inside of the casing there :)

Looks like a home-brew device of the pre-Megasquirt era built into an OE-casing.

Casinca Garage seems to be a Renault Workshop in Corsica.

No, only the named sticker "CASINCA GARAGE".

The ECU seems to run fine. Fitted on the car, it starts the engine having a rough idle and lean mixture. So the map maybe still be on the EPROM.

The green board have a serial number like 50c522++, which its a generic number for a generix philips circuit board.

Will search on the web about the earlier megasquirts....
