far from it! i have my sources.

but parts for a 20 year old car are as you know, are very rare. especially when it's a specific model of car

i also prefer to use o/e parts, than pattern part s*ite

had a very productive day yesterday :D

all the new self-made brakelines fitted, and fitted perfectly, with thanks to servicebox which gave the measurements.

axle went back on with ease, and just have to get some rear discs today, before i can finish the brakes.

And no photos!

Swapped my axle yesterday but without the peugeot super long torx bit it was a bit of a ball ache!

What back shocks have you gone for?

Just standard replacement for now mate.

I've lowered it 30mm with eibachs and kept the std bars.

I'll see what it drives. If ok, I'll leave it as is. Or may uprate at a later date with bilstein struts and thicker bars.

Won't get it on it's wheels today, as all local motor factors don't have rear discs in stock :(

I've gone from the weedy 18mm bars to 20mm bars and its brilliant, really happy with it.

Did you get the eibachs we spoke about? ;)

yeah, got some eibachs

did you use a 20mm arb aswell?

eventually managed to get some rear discs today, so will get the car done tomorrow.

if i can at least get the brake system bled i'll be happy. then i'll fit the new front bumper and lamps, which will only take 10 mins :)

No I used a 21mm ARB with eibachs on the front.

it drives really nice and stays flat round corners, I'm not sure what size my front ARB is tho but I'd wack the 20mm ARB in the back and put the 21mm in at a later date so you can compare!

Std front mi16 arb iirc is 22mm.

IF I decide to stiffen the car up a bit more, I'm more likely to use either 22mm or 24mm rear arb.

Will also see if I can get someone to make roller bearing wishbone bushes, like what's is used by a few 306 owners

here's how i've got on in last couple of days.

had an issue sourcing rear discs, and lost a day because of that :(

new calipers, discs and pads on, with handbrake cables connected

very, very happy with how the car sits!

with thanks to mate of mine, we got the brakes bled eventually. BUT for some reason, i have good solid pedal when car is not running, yet once i start it up, the pedal goes soft.

i honestly can't see it being the servo, as the brakes worked perfectly before i started replacing braklines.

also found my rad fans aren't working, so will try a new switch. fans do work though, as i fed a direct 12v to test them.

these can be buggers to bleed, the Peugeot technique is to do it on a ramp with the rear weighted or strapped down to simulate a load, i.e, to pin the load compensator wide open.

I hate to say allot of people say bleeding brakes on these can be difficult, But I've always found them dead easy with no issues at all via the normal way, the power brake versions are dead easy to bleed over the later system but thats the only advantage those have

i did bleed the brakes with car sat on all wheels (good job i'm slim)

so should i put more weight in the back and try that?

although, when i bled the brakes when i first bought the car, it bled easy enough once i'd bled the abs unit first

yeah, I found bleeding from empty was a right faff, but just sorting out a single component once the system has been in use for a while and bled successfully previously not an issue.

sorry for the delay in update guys

anyhow. as i couldn't buy new wiper arms, i had the original arms powdercoated. the finish is exceptional, and once fitted, was surprised how good the the washers work with the spray bars

159.jpg

you probably read i had an issue with cooling fans not working, and what i thought was an issue with dim dip. problems rectified easy enough, and was much easier to sort with bumper off ;)

160.jpg

once i was happy all front end electrics were working, i fitted the new bumper, and driving lamps, along with the s*it guards

162.jpg

looks better every day

Cracking job you're doing as usual Andy - the old girl looks fantastic.

I really miss my old 405 - fantastic car in its own right, not just as a self-propelled engine in a 405 shaped packing crate

Thanks

A couple of forum members have asked if I will sell once it's tested. I'd really like to see how well it drives before I decide anything ;)
